Courtyard Studios in Hollingbourne were the 2009 recipients of the Creative Industries Award sponsored by the Kent Film Office. Each year, the award is given to the creative business, which demonstrates not only their excellence as a business but their commitment to raising the profile of Kent as a creative county as well as actively taking part in developing the sector locally.

Courtyard Studios, alongside running their well-established photographic studios, have recently expanded to open Apache Lighting and a brand new sound studio for TV commercials.  Part of the Kent Film Co-operative they also work hard to encourage other creative companies in Kent to extend and reach their potential. Next on their list is a film and TV production arm, piloted on their first feature film project The Calling, in conjunction with Maeve Films.

Congratulations Courtyard Studios!

The Kent Film Office would also like to congratulate the very worthy runners up, Wonderful Creative Agency and Meltdowns, who made our decision very difficult and wowed us with their commitment to raising the profile of Kent’s creative talent.

Outstanding Contribution to the Business Community of Kent

We would also like to congratulate Geoff Miles, Managing Director of The Maidstone Studios who won Outstanding Contribution to the Business Community of Kent. Apart from running the studios Geoff’s commitment to Kent extends far beyond the interests of his own business. He gives his time to many boards, including the Kent Economic Board and the East Kent Local Strategic Partnership, which he chairs. He also plays an active role on the Kent TV Board of Governors and on our own Kent Film and Television Board and ceaselessly promotes the county wherever he sees an opportunity.
