This series sees wine expert Oz Clarke and comedian Hugh Dennis trying to set up the UK’s most patriotic drinking establishment.
In Oz and Hugh Raise The Bar, wine expert Oz Clarke and comedian Hugh Dennis are on a mission to set up the UK’s most British drinking establishment; a place that exclusively serves local produce, which is drunk according to tradition and customs.
On their journey across the UK and Ireland, the duo will meet people with the passion to produce the best British drinks known to man as well as try to buy a range of drinks as potential stock for their cellars. Each of them has their own bar in the ‘drinking den’ and they will be competing against each other.
As well as beer and wine, the pair will be looking at snacks, soft drinks, British spirits and even pub games.
The George & Dragon Pub in Speldhurst is a traditional 13th Century Inn with roaring log fires and oak beams, is also the second oldest pub in the country. Speldhurst is in the Tunbridge Wells area of Kent which has been used for filming by projects such as Britain’s Best Bakery (2012), Terry and Mason’s Great Food Trip (2015) and Hunted (2012).
The vibrant City of Canterbury has a Cathedral, busy shopping areas, parks and open spaces and two universities. The Canterbury area has previously been seen on screen on Rustom (2016), The Apprentice (2014) and A Canterbury Tale (1944).
Oz and Hugh Raise The Bar will be shown from BBC TWO 23 December, 9pm
