Country File is the long running BBC series that explores the stories, people and issues in the British countryside, and is presented by John Craven, Matt Baker and Ellie Harrison.

County File has been running since 1988, and not only is it a popular programme, it also publishes a bi-monthly magazine. It used to be aired on Sunday mornings, but since 2009, has moved to an early evening slot, which now pulls in over 5 million viewers a week.

The village of Godmersham lies by the river Stour between Ashford and Canterbury and is a gorgeous and picturesque place rich in wildlife. Godmersham Park House was built in 1732, and was owned by Jane Austen’s brother, her novels Pride and Prejudice, Emma and Mansfield Park are thought to be inspired by the village and characters of Godmersham.

Watch the Godmersham episode of Country File on Sunday 11th March 2012 on BBC1 at 19:00.
