SuperScrimpers is the Channel 4 hit series in which journalist and entrepreneur Mrs Moneypenny and Daily Telegraph writer Harry Wallop show people how to save money in tough economic times.

For the SuperScrimpers Summer Savings Special, Mrs Moneypenny visited Whitstable to hold a cash clinic at The Beacon House for members of the public, advising them on getting the best deals for everything summer related from holiday insurance to last minute getaway deals.

Whitstable is a charming seaside town near Canterbury and boasts a harbour, shingle beach, busy high street and a strong arts and culture scene, and is also the home of the popular Oyster Festival every July. Whitstable has previously been seen on screen for projects such as James May’s Man Lab (2013), Cook Me The Money! (2013) and Our Food (2012).

The Beacon House is a delightful New England style house with wide wooden frontage, distinctive verandah and wrap-around decking and is a popular self catering cottage to let and photography location.

The Whitstable Summer Savings episode of SuperScrimpers will be aired on Wednesday 17 July at 20:00 on Channel 4.

SuperScrimpers is the Channel 4 hit series in which journalist and entrepreneur Mrs Moneypenny and Daily Telegraph writer Harry Wallop show people how to save money in tough economic times.

In the fourth series , the team travel around the country taking Cash Clinics to towns and cities and giving advice to those that need help with saving money on everything from cheap days out to car insurance.

The SuperScrimpers team visited the City of Canterbury earlier this year and filmed the team advising members of the public about their spending in an electrical store as well as the City in general.

Canterbury has a lively city centre with shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the beautiful Canterbury Cathedral. Previous productions that have shot in Canterbury include Songs of Praise (2011) The Hairy Bikers Food Tour of Britain (2009) and A Canterbury Tale (1944).

The Canterbury episode of SuperScrimpers will be aired on Monday 25th March at 20:30 on Channel 4.
