Production Company: BBC
Kent locations: Chilham
To celebrate the 50th birthday of the Jaguar E-type, Jeremy Clarkson and his ‘team’ of E-types recently visited the village of Chilham in Kent. In true Clackson style, the celebrations are anything but low key, involving live music, classic fighter planes and a group of Royal Marines.
The Top Gear team made the most of Kent Film Office’s legal powers to close roads for filming and closed Chilham square to film the episode.
Also in the programme, Richard Hammond is in South Africa for a test drive and James May meets up with gold medal winning British Olympian Amy Williams.
Chilham is a beautiful village with a remarkable fifteenth century square of black and white timbered buildings, church, school and many shops and eateries. Chilham has been used for a variety of filming projects including BBC’s Emma (2009), Channel 4 comedy Chickens (2011) and Miss Marple – The Moving Finger (2005).
The show was aired on Sunday 26th of June 2011 on BBC2 at 20.00hrs and the series is now available to buy on DVD.
