Kent’s universities and colleges provide an ideal location to study, with excellent track records and facilities. We believe our higher education institutes are second to none.

The Kent Academy showcases Kent’s higher education media courses, particularly focusing on the areas of TV and Film Production, Photography and Film Studies. We have included courses ranging from NVQ level 3 to postgraduate from 10 institutions in Kent to give you a flavour of what is on offer.

Kent is a vibrant county and in demand as a filming location. It has played host to many productions such as Little Dorrit, Cape Wrath, The Other Boleyn Girl, the Morrisons Christmas campaign, Hancock and Joan, Ruby Blue and The Fixer.

In conjunction with Kent’s Colleges and Universities, the Kent Film Office, also tries to negotiate training opportunities for graduates with both visiting and local production companies. The Case Studies demonstrate how On-set experience and working with local production companies have helped some of our trainees to progress further within the industry.

We’ll will send you out to take and manipulate images to create your own location record, which you can print off and take away with you. http://www.kent.gov.uk/filmoffice/location-focus

Research:

We are currently working on populating our NEW Kent Moviemap which will help increase film tourism to Kent. This is a big project which will give you the opportunity to pick a film which was filmed in Kent, logging the relevant scenes and confirming the actual places that provided the filming locations. You may also be asked to find out whether there are any local residents who were involved in the filming and whether they have any interesting stories to tell which we could add to the Moviemap.
