Journalist and Kent Resident Martin Jackson has died at the age of 75.
Martin worked as a journalist for over 60 years on a whole host of newspapers, including The Daily Express, The Mail, Broadcast Magazine and more recently as a writer for the Kent Messenger Business Column. His particular interest was the development and support of the film and broadcasting sector in his home county, Kent.
Martin played a critical part in the foundation of Television South (TVS), founded the regional screen agency Screen South, and supported the establishment of the Kent Film Office by KCC, as well as representing the broadcast industry on the Kent TV Board of Governors. His tireless efforts in championing the broadcasting industries in Kent, despite increasing health problems, earned him the respect and gratitude of industry professionals nationwide. He will be sadly missed.
Our thoughts are with his wife Maureen and their three daughters at this sad time.
