Founded in 2008 as a way to develop interest in film, the festival will take place from Thursday 23rd of February to Sunday 26th of February 2012.
Sponsored by Sheppey Matters, a charity that aims to improve health on the Isle of Sheppey, 2012’s event is providing local young residents an opportunity to participate in the Film Maker’s Competition. Whether entering as an individual or as a group, entrants have the opportunity to win prizes such as film making equipment and a trip to the world famous Pinewood Studios!
2012’s competition has two age groups for people to enter, 4, 5 & 6 and ages 12-21 (25 for special needs groups). This year’s competition is based on five themes from which to choose:
- Olympic Games
- Maritime theme
- Kent newspaper/radio/TV station
- Kent Landmark
- Kent celebrity
For underage entrants an adult will need to sign the application form. Judges will be looking at script, camera and sound skills, as well as design, makeup, editing and the abilities of the performing artists.
Productions must be submitted on 16mm film, video, Beta SP, VHS or DVD and all entries must be received by Sheppey Matters by Monday 9TH January 2012.
Any one from across Swale and Kent, and the UK can submit a film. All those interested should visit the Swale Film Festival Website for more information: http://www.swalefilmfestival.org.uk/
