2 Days Later, Kent’s biggest Short Film Competition, screening and award ceremony, returns to the Theatre Royal in Margate with another programme of creepy horror shorts and as the centre piece of Margate’s first ever Halloween Horror Weekend event.
To mark the film competition’s 10th Anniversary and to celebrate Dreamland’s cinematic heritage, festival organisers Beeping Bush have partnered with The Dreamland Trust to expand the Halloween Gala Film Screening into a full three day Margate Halloween Horror Festival from Friday 26 October until Sunday 4 November 2012.
The festival will consist of many different events including a Drive-In Movie Night screening of the horror comedy Zombieland (Cert15), an exhibition of archive images of Dreamland’s Grade II listed cinema building and Sam Bénard’s haunting images of Dreamland in the present, as well as a special screening of the 1957 classic The Curse of Frankenstein, along with a screen talk on The History of the Horror Movie Genre.
On Halloween itself, Wednesday 31 October, the Tom Thumb Theatre will present their free Ghoulish Ghost Stories which can be enyoyed by the whole family. Put on your witches hat and grab your broomstick there will be a prize for the creepiest costume!
Also look out for flash mob events where vampires, Goths and ghouls appear when least expected, the Crowning of the King and Queen of Horror 2012 on the 2DL Gala Film night and other things that go bump in the night!
