New Channel 4 property programme Double the House for Half the Money helps families who cannot afford to move by attempting to extend their houses and get the dream home they always hoped for.
In the last episode of the series, property developer Sarah Beeny (Property Ladder, Help! My House is Falling Down) will help the Shaw family to renovate their run-down 1960’s bungalow in Seasalter into a four bedroom family home. However, with a short timescale to complete the improvements, Sarah is worried they may go over budget.
The crew filmed the progress of the renovations to the Shaw’s home earlier this year and also visited nearby Whitstable to film interviews with the family throughout the process.
Whitstable is a quaint seaside town in East Kent and boasts a shingle beach and harbour as well as modern art galleries, shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Nearby is the village of Seasalter which has a pebble beach surrounded by salt-marshes.
Previous productions that have filmed in Whitstable include Our Food (2012), Coast (2009) and The Man Behind the Masquerade (2009). Upcoming Channel 4 drama Southcliffe (2013) has also been filming in Seasalter and Whitstable.
Don’t miss the stunning transformation of the Shaw’s home in Seasalter which will air on Channel 4 on Tuesday 16th October 2012 at 20:00.
