New six-part drama Guerrilla follows political activist couple Jas (Freida Pinto) and Marcus (Babou Ceesay) who have formed an underground cell following the death of a pacifist friend by the police. When they break activist Dhari Bishop (Nathaniel Martello-White) from jail they embark on a journey into the underground that tests their relationship and values. Set in the 1970s, the story explores the UK’s social upheaval and political activism of the decade.
The new series stars Idris Elba (Prometheus, Luther), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Babou Ceesay (Free Fire, Eye in the Sky and Rogue One), Wunmi Mosaku (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Philomena) and Giorgio Spiegelfeld (United, Strings).
The production filmed at Chatham Docks and on the River Medway, which provides the setting for the final sequence of the series.
Chatham’s riverside runs from Ship Pier in the West, past Sun Pier to the Council Offices in the East. It fronts the River Medway at the Limehouse Reach. The riverside has previously welcomed Great Expectations (1999).
Guerrilla will premiere on Sky Atlantic on Thursday 13th April at 9pm
