Six-part drama Guerrilla (2017) follows political activist couple Jas and Marcus who have formed an underground cell following the killing of a pacifist friend by the police. When they break out activist Dhari from jail they embark on a journey into the underground that tests their relationship and values. Set in the 1970s, the story explores the UK’s social upheaval and political activism of the decade.
The series was created by John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Three Kings) and stars Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth, Free Fire) as Marcus, Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire, Rise of the Planets of the Apes) as Jas, Nathaniel Martello-White (Deceit (2021), The Strays) as Dhari, Daniel Mays (The Great Fire (2014), Temple (2021)) as Cullen, Rory Kinnear (Quacks (2017), Peterloo (2018)) as Pence, Denise Gough (Andor (2025), The Stolen Girl (2025)) as Fallon, Brandon Scott (Dead to Me, 13 Reasons Why) as Leroy, and Idris Elba (In the Long Run (2019), Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)) as Kent.
The production filmed at Chatham Riverisde, which provides the setting for the final sequence of the series.
Chatham’s riverside runs from Ship Pier in the West, past Sun Pier to the Council Offices in the East. It fronts the River Medway at the Limehouse Reach. The riverside has previously welcomed Great Expectations (1999).
Guerrilla (2017) premiered on Sky Atlantic on Thursday 13th April 2017.
