Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces (2012-) returns for a new series this year. Architect and presenter George Clarke (Amazing Spaces Shed of the Year, The Restoration Man) explores the fascinating world of small builds, with an emphasis on the creative use of small spaces. The show follows people who turn the smallest of places, such as old boats, a tree house disguised as an acorn, and a mountain-top restaurant resembling a spaceship, into places to live.

George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces series 5 previously filmed in Margate, Thanet back in 2015. Here, George met a coma survivor who transformed a family camper van and also visited a woman who turned her narrow boat into a floating bookshop.

The Kent episode of series 8 was filmed in Ramsgate, Thanet. Production filmed at Port of Ramsgate, where George follows a new restoration.

Ramsgate is a thriving seaside town with beautiful Georgian terraced housing, Marina, Port and Promenade. Often doubling for London streets. Other previous TV productions which filmed here include Fantasy Homes by the Sea – Series 7 (2018), The Channel: The World’s Busiest Waterway (2017) and Coast Vs Country (2016).

Series 8 began airing on Sunday 30th December 2018 on Channel 4. Episode eight, which featured Ramsgate, aired on Sunday 24th February 2019 at 8pm.

Catastrophe Series 4 (2019)

Catastrophe (2015-2019), Channel 4’s popular comedy series,  follows the lives of American Rob (Rob Delaney) and Sharon (Sharon Horgan) his Irish wife from Ireland who first met on a business trip to London. The latest series catches up with them four years after they first met as Rob tackles his alcoholism and we see its impact on their relationship. It also includes the fictional funeral of Mia (Carrie Fisher), Rob’s mother as actress Carrie Fisher who sadly passed away after the filming of Series 3.

Starring Sharon Horgan (Game Night, Moone Boy) as Sharon Morris, Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2, Action Team) as Rob Norris, Mark Bonnar (Shetland, Take Down) as Chris, and guest starring Julie Hesmondhalgh (Coronation Street, Broadchurch) and Chris Noth (Sex and the City, Tyrant).

Filming for Mia’s funeral took place at Beacon House in the seaside town of Whitstable, which doubled as a house in Boston. The house is situated above a natural promontory, called The Street, which stretches out to sea for about half a mile. Another location used in Whitstable was The Lobster Shack, which is located at the edge of the harbour with stunning sea views.  Whitstable is a popular filming location and previous productions include Wayfaring Stranger (2008), The Things I Haven’t Told You (2008), and Mr Turner (2014).

The Pantiles in Royal Tunbridge Wells also featured in the new series and doubled as Boston. This area with shops, bars and live music offers a great shopping experience. The buildings, some of which are over 400 years old, still have some original features, though the overall impression is of a Georgian terrace that plays host to events from farmers markets to live Jazz and Christmas fairs. Royal Tunbridge Wells is credited in films and TV series such as The Royals Season 4 (2018).

Catastrophe began airing on Channel 4 on Monday 7th January 2019 .

Four in a Bed – Series 12 (2018)

A brand-new series of Four in a Bed returns to Channel 4, where a different B&B is visited each day of the week and owners take it in turns to stay with each other as they compete to be crowned Best Hosts. The final day at the end of the week is reserved for feedback debates and the announcement of the winner.

The series is narrated by Mike Adams (Emmerdale) and for this series production visited a B&B in Wrotham and one in Sheerness, as well as neighbouring areas like the county town of Maidstone.

Wrotham is located in Sevenoaks and has starred in other well-known series such as, Next of Kin directed by Justin Chadwick and Jamie Childs.  Maidstone in Kent has also been a key filming location used by popular Netflix show Black Mirror.

Isle of Sheppey is the largest town on the Isle of Sheppey. Sheppey regularly wins the blue flag for its clean beaches and has many pubs, restaurants, shops and other leisure attractions. The Hide (2009) has previously used The Isle of Sheppey as a film location.

The series will start on Monday 17th September on Channel 4 at 5.30pm and will air at the same time everyday till Monday 24th September 2018.

My Floating Home – Series 2 – Episode 4 & 8

Returning for its second series My Floating Home follows seven families on their adventure of building their watery dream homes.

The river Medway is firstly introduced in episode 4. In this episode, Mark Evans meets Lee and Justine Oakley, who need to transform an old steel hull boat into a 2-story floating house that provides the perfect platform to soak in spectacular views of the River Medway.

The crew returns to the River Medway in episode 8 when Mark Evans follows Laurence Kent in his quest to build his ‘Riverpod’ floating home on the river. It will travel down river from Wateringbury to ‘The Basin’ at East Farleigh.

The River Medway is Kent’s longest river and today, many of people either live on the water or use it for leisure pursuits. The Medway featured previously in Great Expectations (1999) and Canterbury Tales – The Man of Laws’ Tale (2003).

Other Kent locations were featured in episode 8, including Paddock Wood, where the boat is constructed, Medway Wharf Marina, where the Riverpod is lowered into the water, and ‘The Basin’ at East Farleigh, where it is moored.

The latest episode of My Floating Home series 2 aired on 29 May on All4.

Bake Off: The Professionals

Bake Off: The Professionals is back on Channel 4! The series is a baking competition, which features teams of pastry chefs competing against each other through various challenges.

Hosting the show will be comedian Tom Allen who previously appeared on BBC Three series Josh and So You Think You’re Funny. Joining him will be former Bake-Off contestant Liam Charles. Judging will be top pastry chefs Cherish Finden and Benoit Blin.

There will be ten episodes in total, and in episode one we see contestants Chris and Bjarni work at The Warren restaurant, Tunbridge Wells and forage in the nearby forest.

Tunbridge Wells is a popular film location and has previously featured Come Dine With Me (2013) and Britain’s Best Bakery (2012).

The Channel: The World’s Busiest Waterway (2017)

The Channel: The World’s Busiest Waterway is an access-all-areas programme exploring the everyday workings of the Dover Strait. I addition to exploring the ocean there is also footage from inside the Channel Tunnel, including interviews with those who are responsible for maintaining the system that allows 17 million people to travel across the English Channel every year.

In June 2017, in addition to filming at Eurotunnel, the production team filmed with one of the commercial fleets based at Ramsgate Royal Harbour.

Ramsgate is accredited as the home to England’s only Royal Harbour, developed in 1976. The scenic and charming marina resides 35 miles from the western French coast. Ramsgate has been used for filming by productions such as The Apprentice (2015).

The Channel Tunnel is the rail tunnel connecting Folkestone in Kent to Calais in France in just 35 minutes. The Channel Tunnel has been used for filming by productions such as The Tunnel: Sabotage (2016).

The series starts on Wednesday 29th of November 2017 at 9PM on Channel Four and the fisherman’s episode will be the third instalment of The Channel: The World’s Busiest Waterway, which airs on 13th December 2017 at the same time.

Grand Designs RIBA House of the Year (2017)

Grand Designs is known for featuring awe inspiring domestic architecture, from ultra-modern builds to stylish period renovations. The House of the Year Award special will feature seven properties across the four episodes.  The show will be presented by Kevin McCloud and the final Episode on 28th November will announce the 2017 winner of the Royal Institute of British Architects House Of The Year Award.

Episode 3 features Ness Point in St Margaret’s -at- Cliffe in East Kent.

St Margaret’s Bay is a small beach bay close to the famous white chalk cliffs. It is said this beach is where the sun first rises in the UK every morning. The area was once home to Noel Coward, Peter Ustinov and Ian Fleming. Other well-known programs and movies have been filmed here such as Missing (2009) and Poirot – The Clocks (2009)

The series started on Channel 4 on Tuesday 7th of November at 9pm. The Kent episode airs on 14th November.

Coast v Country (2017)

Coast v Country is a brand new property format for Channel 4, which showcases the most striking properties for sale in some of Kent’s most beautiful coast & countryside locations. The series is presented by property experts Sara Damergi, Kerr Drummond and property developers Kirsty Duffy and David Bull.

Dover is the site of the famous white cliffs of Dover and has been used in films such as Sherlock Holmes, a game of shadows (2011) and those magnificent men and their flying machines (1965)

Another well-known location, Canterbury Cathedral, is the oldest and most renowned cathedral in England; currently a world heritage site it has been previously used to film Last Orders (2002) and a Canterbury Tale (1944)

The new series of Coast v Country starts on Monday 30th October at 4pm on Channel 4.

Episodes which feature Kent are due to air on 2nd, 22nd and 24th November 2017.

The End of the F***ing World (2017)

New Channel 4 comedy-drama series ‘The End of the F****** World’ follows two teenage outsiders, James (Alex Lawther) and Alyssa (Jessica Barden), who escape their families to embark on a road trip to find Alyssa’s father. The pair end up getting caught up in a series of violent events and find themselves on a path of discovery.

The series was written by Charlie Covell (Banana, Forget Me Not) and Chuck Forsman (TEOTFW- 2014). It was directed by Jonathan Entwistle (TEOTFW – 2014) and Lucy Tcherniak (Lay Me Down). The cast is led by Jessica Barden (Coronation Street), and Alex Lawther (Black Mirror).

The series filmed in and around Leysdown on Sea on the Isle of Sheppey, which was part of Entwistle’s attempt at American style filmmaking in a British setting. Writer, Covell, during an interview described how they were trying to find locations which weren’t ‘quintessentially British’, which is why they chose the Isle of Sheppey as the location.

Isle of Sheppey is a coastal village on the east side of the Isle of Sheppey in the Borough of Swale in Kent. Previously, projects such as Hunted (2016) and The Sweeney (2012) featured the Isle of Sheppey.

‘The End of the F****** World’ begins on the 24th of October 2017 at 10:20pm on Channel 4 and all episodes are available on All4.

Electric Dreams: Crazy Diamond (2017)

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams : “Crazy Diamond”

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams is a sci-fi anthology series with stand-alone episodes that focus on dark themes and ideas with a twist. The first season will contain 10 episodes of adapted material from Philip K. Dick’s body of literary work.

Source material from Philip K. Dick (Blade Runner) stories, directed by, among others,  Michael Dinner (The Crew), David Farr (The Ones Below), Francesca Gregorini (The Truth About Emanuel) and Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders). The first season stars Timothy Spall (Mr Turner, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Gumuliauskas Vaclovas (The Death of Stalin), Juke Hardy (Alien: Covenant), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) and Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Boardwalk Empire) as well as many others.

Some scenes from the upcoming series were filmed in Dungeness on the south coast of Kent. The area has been used in the past for many different films and TV series. Previous productions filmed in Dungeness include: Una (2017) and Doctor Who: The Claws of Axos (1971). The Pilot Inn in Dungeness previously featured in the The Poison Tree (2012)

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams premieres on Sunday 17 September 2017 on Channel 4 at 9PM.
