Romeo Vs Juliet (2015) is an Indo-Bangladesh rom-com following Romeo, an unruly youth, who travels to London after seeing his dream girl on Facebook and vowing to win her heart.

Directed by Ashok Pati (Dream Girl, Nandini I Love U), the film stars Ankush Hazra (Villain, Zulfiqar) as Romeo and Mahiya Mahi (Agnee, Warning) as Juliet, with Nita Mistry (From Buckingham Palace, One Crazy Thing) and Kharaj Mukherjee (Patalghar, Kahaani) in supporting roles.

Production visited Kent to film scenes doubling for London.

In Herne Bay, a chase scene took place at the Central Bandstand, Waltrop Gardens, the Pier, beach and Neptune’s Arm. Herne Bay is a coastal resort and is home to the world’s first free-standing purpose built clock tower. Other productions to have filmed there include Boomers (2014-2016), Still Life (2013) and Big Bad World (2013).

Filming took place on Sevenoaks High Street and Bligh’s Walk as Romeo tries to sneak a photo with Juliet. The town of Sevenoaks has a variety of shops and restaurants as well as one of the oldest cricket grounds in the country – The Vine Cricket Ground. There are also many stately homes and castles in the area as well as beautiful countryside. Previous productions to have filmed in Sevenoaks include Parade’s End (2012) and Strawberry Fields (2012).

In Chiddingstone, Romeo speaks on the phone with his uncle back in India, and then prays in St Mary the Virgin Church. Chiddingstone is one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in Kent. A beautiful example of a Tudor one-street village, over 70% of the buildings are more than 200 years old and many feature half-timbered sides, gables and stone-hung red-tiled roofs. Previous productions to have filmed in the village include A Room With a View (1986) and Elizabeth R (1971).

Later in the film, Romeo takes Juliet to Ramsgate Marina and asks her to come back to India with him. Ramsgate has the only Royal Harbour in the country, decreed by King George IV in 1821 due to his fondness of the friendly locals he met there. Often used as a double for London, Ramsgate is a popular filming location, having also featured in The Soul of a Spy (2015), Series 6 of Not Going Out (2013) and The Calling (2009).

A song-and-dance scene was filmed at Hever Castle and on Botany Bay in Broadstairs.

The original home of the Boleyn family, Hever Castle is an outstanding 13th Century Tudor castle with a moat, stunning Italianate gardens, a beautiful lake, as well as a mock Tudor village. Previous productions to have filmed there include Inkheart (2008), Lady Jane (1986) and Mapp and Lucia (1985-1986).

Botany Bay is a very popular filming location due to its sandy beach, rock pools, white cliffs and highly photographed white chalk stacks. Previous productions to have filmed at Botany Bay include Series 1 of Hunderby (2012), Thaandavam (2012) and True Love (2012).

Romeo Vs Juliet (2015) was released in India on Friday 23rd January 2015 and is now available to buy on Amazon.
