The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2024) is a fantasy series based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s History of Middle Earth, largely found in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings novels. Set thousands of years before the final battle for Middle Earth, the series depicts the Second Age of Middle Earth when the rings were forged.

Developed by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, the series stars Morfydd Clark (Saint Maud, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) as Galadriel, Ismael Cruz Cordova (In the Blood, Mary Queen of Scots) as Arondir, Charlie Vickers (Medici) as Sauron, Markella Kavenagh (My First Summer, True History of the Kelly Gang) as Nori Brandyfoot, Daniel Weyman (Gentleman Jack, Silent Witness) as The Stranger, Lloyd Owen (Miss Potter, Apollo 18) as Elendil and Robert Aramayo (The Empty Man, Antebellum) as Elrond.

Filming for Season 2 took place at High Rocks and Harrison’s Rocks on the Kent and East Sussex border.

Once a Stone Age camp, the High Rocks are magnificent sandstone rocks interlinked with bridges in a tranquil woodland setting. Situated within the High Rocks complex there are four oak beam function rooms, each with its own bar and dance floor. Britannia Series 3 (2021) and The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (2024) also filmed at the High Rocks.

Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be available to stream on Amazon Prime on Thursday 29th August 2024.
