Invasion (2023) is an American sci-fi series set during the aftermath of an alien invasion and seen through the eyes of five ordinary people across the globe.

Created by Simon Kinberg (The 355 (2022), Sherlock Holmes (2009)) and David Weil (Hunters, Solos), the series stars Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge) as Aneesha Malik, Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2, Murder Mystery) as Mitsuki Yamato, Shamier Anderson (Wynonna Earp, Stowaway) as Trevante Cole and Billy Barratt (Blinded by the Light, Responsible Child) as Caspar Morrow.

Upper Road in Dover and the Eurotunnel terminal in Folkestone feature throughout Series 2 Episode 4, as Monty (Paddy Holland), Jamila (India Brown), Alfie (Cache Vanderpuye), Penny (Ruby Siddle) and Darwin (Louis Toghill) travel to France to rescue their friend Caspar.

Dover is home to the busiest passenger port in the world, connecting the UK with the European mainland. Dover Castle towers above the town, signalling Dover’s strategic importance in the defence of the country and the White Cliffs are one of the most recognised landmarks in Britain. A popular filming location, Dover has also played host to Rogue Agent (2022), Whitstable Pearl (2021-2022), and Pistol (2022).

The Channel Tunnel is a 31-mile rail tunnel linking Folkestone to Europe. It was one of the main settings for the programme The Tunnel (2013).

Series 2 of Invasion was released on Apple TV on Wednesday 23rd August 2023.

The 355 (2022)

The 355 (2022) is an American spy thriller about a CIA operative who joins forces with three international agents on a mission to recover a top-secret weapon that has fallen into the wrong hands.

Directed and written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix, The Twilight Zone) and co-written by Theresa Rebeck (Law & Order: Criminal Intent, NYPD Blue), The 355 cast is headlined by Jessica Chastain (X-Men: Dark Phoenix,  Interstellar), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave, Black Panther), Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds, The Operative), Penélope Cruz (Murder on the Orient Express, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and Bingbing Fan (Iron Man 3,  X-Men: Days of Future Past).

During filming, production visited Fairbourne Reservoir near Harrietsham in Maidstone. The property was dressed as Graciela’s (Penélope Cruz) Colombian home.

Fairbourne Reservoir is a modern mansion which has previously featured in two episodes of Netflix’s Black Mirror – Metalhead (2017) and Smithereens (2018). Harrietsham is a picturesque village in Maidstone and contains a number of listed buildings..

The 355 was released in UK cinemas on Friday 7th January 2022.
