Laura Spini’s directorial debut short, You Are Whole, is a dark comedy, following Norman Pugg (played by Hollywood actor Fred Melamed), a spiritual teacher visiting houses in a small British sea-side town. He is soon mistaken for a serial killer, as he seems to leave a trail of deaths across the town. The short film was selected for the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Palm Springs International Shortfest and the London Short Film Festival.

Kent locations used are both Herne Bay and Margate.

Herne Bay is a coastal resort which is home to the world’s first free standing purpose built clock tower, and boasts a beautiful beach and seafront. Previous filming has taken place here for Holiday of My Lifetime with Len Goodman (2016), Boomers (2014 and 2016) and Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em (1973).

Margate is a seaside town complete with sandy beach, harbour, amusement park, period housing and ultra-modern art gallery Turner Contemporary. Previous filming here includes The Tunnel: Sabotage (2016), Coast (2014), Edge of Heaven (2014) and many more.

Boomers is back on our screens for another series following the lives of retired couples that live in a fictional seaside town in England.

The series stars Phillip Jackson (My Week With Marilyn, Agatha Christie: Poirot), Russ Abbot (Last of the Summer Wine), James Smith (The Iron Lady, The Thick of It), Stepthanie Beacham (Trollied, Love and Other Disasters), Alison Steadman (The Syndicate, Gavin & Stacey) and Paula Wilcox (Mount Pleaseant, Emmerdale).

In series one the programme was filmed in Herne Bay and Studd Hill and the production team returned again for seies two to Studd Hill in the Herne Bay area.

Herne Bay is located on Kent’s coast and is home to a pier, shops and eateries and seafront gardens with a bandstand. Other productions filmed at Herne Bay are Big Bad World (2013) and Little Britain – Season 1 (2003).

Series two of Boomers started on 25 March 2016, catch it on BBC One at 21:30 on Friday evenings.
