The Capture (2019-2026) is a British mystery thriller series following a tenacious young detective as she investigates complex conspiracies behind important members of society, using captured CCT footage as an important investigation tool.

Created by Ben Chanan (CyberbullyOur World War), this gripping drama stars Holliday Grainger (The Stolen Girl (2025), Cinderella) as DI Rachel Carey, Lia Williams (Mr Bates vs the Post Office (2024), Living (2022)) as DSU Gemma Garland, Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Hand of God) as CIA Section Chief Frank Napier, Ben Miles (Andor (2025), The Crown (2016-2023)) as Commander Danny Hart, Ginny Holder (The Saint (1997), Wing Commander) as DS Nadia Latif, Nigel Lindsay (Four Lions, Victoria) as DCI Tom Kendricks, Cavan Clerkin (The Last Kingdom, Muscle) as DS Patrick Flynn and Peter Singh (The Flood (2019), Hampstead) as DI Phillips. Series 1 stars Callum Turner (The Boys in the Boat, Masters of the Air) as Lance Corporal Shaun Emery, Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Green Knight) as DCI Alec Boyd and Famke Janssen (X-Men, GoldenEye) as CIA Executive Consultant Jessica Mallory.

For series 1, production visited the now-closed Canterbury Prison to shoot for two days in 2018. In 2025, production returned to Kent for Series 3 to film at the WWII bunkers above Samphire Hoe and in the Warren Country Park in Folkestone.

Canterbury Prison was sold to Canterbury Christ Church University in 2014 and is now part of the university campus. The surrounding area of Canterbury has had a few films created in the area, including The Tunnel: Sabotage (2016) and The Rizen (2017).

Created by the spoils of the Channel Tunnel, Samphire Hoe is a new piece of England, an award-winning country park known for its wildlife, biodiversity, and stunning views across the Channel Other productions to have filmed here include Liaison (2023), After Love (2021), and King Lear (2018).

The Warren Country Park is a coastal nature reserve backed by cliffs incorporating woods, beach and concrete sea defences. The Serial Killer’s Wife (2023), The Fight (2019) and SEAGULL (2018) also filmed here.

Series 1 of The Capture began airing on BBC One  on Tuesday 3rd September 2019.

Series 3 of The Capture (2019-2026) will begin airing on BBC One on Sunday 8th March 2026.
