Strictly Come Dancing is a dance competition where celebrities compete to be crowned the winner. Each week a dance couple is kicked out of the competition decided by the judges scores and viewer votes. For the Christmas Special the judges will share some yuletide joy, treating viewers to a host of group and paired performances.

The popular TV entertainment show, is produced by the BBC and has been running since 2004. The show stars judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas featuring guest celebrity dancers Chizzy Akudolu, Debbie McGee, Gemma Atkinson, Mark Wright, Joe Sugg and Richard Arnold.

The 2019 Christmas Special was partly filmed at the 900 year old Leeds Castle located near Maidstone in Kent. Production visited Leeds Castle to film various exterior scenes on Castle Island and interior scenes in the Library. The dancers also visited the Christmas Market on the Cedar Lawn.

Leeds Castle is a 900 year old castle with medieval themed rooms, 1920’s style interiors and a 500 acre estate boasting beautiful gardens, a moat, woodlands, and a maze. The Castle is a popular film location for film and TV productions and has recently hosted De De Pyaar De (2019), Celebrity Antiques Road Show – Series 8 (2018) and The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses (2016).

Hetty Feather Series 5 (2019) and Christmas Special

Nineteenth century hit children’s drama, based on the characters in Jacqueline Wilson’s novel, Hetty Feather, returns for its fifth series. The ten-part series focuses on the life of Hetty Feather (Isabel Clifton), an orphan, now in service with Lady Grenfell at Calendar Hall along with her fellow foundlings Gideon and Sheila. Aided by friends and thwarted by enemies, Hetty battles to win her freedom and finally find her real mother.

The series stars Isabel Clifton (The Dumping Ground), Tabitha Byron (Femi), and Rhianna Merralls (Carters Get Rich).

Hetty Feather is entirely filmed in Kent, where production visited the elegant 18th century Belmont House in Faversham, which features as Calendar Hall.

In the Christmas Special Hetty (Isabel Clifton) embarks on a musical Christmas adventure, only to be stopped in her tracks by Matron. Look out for scenes filmed at The Historic Dockyard Chatham and Belmont House in Faversham. See a preview of the Christmas Special here.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham also features as various London locations and filming took place at the streets around the Ropery, Officers Terrace, Old Pay Office and the Tarred Yarn Store.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham lies on the River Medway and boasts a variety of Georgian and Victorian architecture, maritime environment, dry dock, cobbled streets, and industrial buildings. The Historic Dockyard Chatham continues to be a popular film location for Hetty Feather, as well as other previous productions such as Junk Rescue (2019) and Call the Midwife (2012-2018).

Hetty Feather Series 5 began airing on Monday 6th May 2019 on CBBC and is available to view on BBC iPlayer.
